This is a recording of the third session from our Becoming Buddha Foundations Of Mindfulness And Meditation Fall 2018 Retreat at Won Dharma Center on September 21, 2018.
My talk and our Sangha discussion is on the Satipatthana Sutta, the primary sutta on establishing mindfulness of what is occurring first on our meditation cushions, and then applying mindfulness to the entire Dhamma. This is the appropriate use of mindfulness as the Buddha taught mindfulness. As an introduction to the Satipatthana Sutta, I give a brief talk on the Bahiya Sutta where the Buddha teaches an impatient Bahiya the proper application of the refined mindfulness that develops from practicing the Buddha’s Dhamma.
Videos of our Spring 2018 retreat sessions are available here:

All of these talks are based on the suttas included in my book Becoming Buddha, Becoming Awakened.
